Dear All,
Please see below information relating to the final race of this series, I have used the same format for the notice of race previously provided by Maldon which keeps it simply for everyone (thank you Maldon I hope you don’t mind, it might be a good idea to have a pre-formatted one for all clubs to use for each race in the future?).
Date : Sunday 18th February 2018
High Water: 13.53 Hrs – 5.10
Host Club: Mersea Island Rowing Club, from West Mersea Yacht Club for registration, briefing, and prize giving, however, please accept our sincere apologies in advance that regretfully the Yacht Club is being refurbished this week so we are not sure what facilities will be available on the day, we will therefore not be able to provide refreshments from this location. I do however, advise that there is the Blackwater Pearl situated on Coast Road opposite the public toilets next to the pay and display carpark and boat jetty, along with the Coast Inn just up the road past the Yacht Club towards the village High Street.
Itinerary: From 09.30 Arrive at West Mersea to launch from the Main Hard (to the left of the Life Boat Station) or the old Life boat hard to the left of the carpark opposite the Yacht Club (but please remember to launch diagonally to the 2 scrubbing posts where it is not muddy). Trailers to be stored at Gowen’s carpark and the Sea Scouts carpark in The Lane, directions will be provided on the day for anyone unsure of these locations, just ask any of us from MIRC.
Registration: From 10.00 – Outside the Yacht Club – Entry Fee £10 per boat per race, 1 map will be provided to each boat racing
Briefing: 11.30 – Coxes and 1 race crew only, the count down for each race will be 5,2,1 go , the venue for prize giving will be confirmed during the briefing dependant on the weather.
There will be a Mass start opposite the Yacht Club based on the following times.
12.30 – Ladies
13.30 – Men’s
14.30 – Mixed
.
16.00 – Prize Giving outside the Yacht Club, if the weather is bad then it will be held at the Sea Scouts hut in The Lane.
Car parking is available in the area on side streets
VHF channel 37/M1, we will keep a close eye on the forecast for Sunday and if we need to cancel the race an email will be sent out Saturday evening by approx. 18.00 hrs
Time Keeping Assistance from Burnham and Brightlingsea Uni.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Many thanks and kindest regards
Donna
