Starting/finishing line:
A change from previous years, the start line is a transit of the two white metes located on the saltings opposite the Saga Pontoon adjacent to Cook’s Yard. Your start countdown will be relayed on VHF 37 by Race Control.
NB. The starting gigs must be entirely behind the line at the start of their signal, Coxes discretion as to whether you start standing or moving. Time penalties will be applied to premature starters.

Course:
All marks are channel buoys, see attached chart No 19 (P), No 16 (P), No 14 (P), No 12 (P), No 11 (P), No 13 (P), No 15 (P), No 17 (P), No 19 (P), Finish.

When gigs meet:
Overtaking
The overtaking gig must keep clear.
The overtaken gig must maintain a steady course.

At a turning mark
Gig overlapped on the inside has right of way. The overlap must be established at least 2 gig lengths from the mark.

Gigs pass port to port

River traffic:
Maldon can be a busy harbour near H.W. Gigs are obliged to keep clear of all shipping restricted in their ability to manoeuver.

Downs Road has a crane for launchings and Marinestore has a slip.
If you can bring your boat over on Saturday (we have arranged overnight mooring) this, again, will make launching easier on Sunday.

Recovery will be as soon as your club finishes the Mixed race.

OOD assistance – can the representatives from Mersea and Brightlingsea Uni make themselves know to Bob Fawkes, OOD.
