Outline of course:
The start line will be between the Wivenhoe Sailing Club Starting Hut and a set of two markers buoys . The turning point will be at the mouth of the Roman River, marked by another buoy(s). The finish line will be between the Wivenhoe Sailing Club Starting Hut and the set of two buoys. Boats will be started at two minute intervals
Getting to Wivenhoe:
Please let us know if you will be coming by road or rowing to Wivenhoe so we know how many trailers to expect. As many of you already know the easiest way to Wivenhoe Sailing Club is via Bowes Road (following the yellow signs for Bawley House Cooks Shipyard may help).
There are also some road closures planned for the A12 on weekends in January and also on Colne Bank Avenue in Colchester.
Trailer Storage:
Please stow your trailers at the top of the slipway and in the dinghy park area
Car Parking:
There are limited parking facilities in and around Wivenhoe Sailing Club, please pay attention to the parking restrictions. Please try to limit the number of vehicles you bring if at all possible. There is a public car park opposite the Wivenhoe Sailing Club, £4 for over six hours parking and additional parking at the station or opposite the Greyhound pub.
Please note, parking is not permitted in the Wivenhoe Sailing Club car park.
Pontoon access:
Numbers on the pontoon are limited and we must insist that the pontoon is reserved for crew changeovers only. There are several good vantage points along the waterfront and from the sailing club’s Upper Deck.
We look forward to seeing you there!
