The SWFYC Regatta 2016 will be held during the weekend 2/3rd July and the Crouch Shield Gig Race on Sunday 3rd.

South Woodham Ferrers Yacht Club are very excited to invite you to their annual gig race “The Crouch Shield”

This year we have a new course, kindly agreed by the Crouch Harbour Authority, finishing outside our Club house making a fabulous spectator friendly event.

Free camping is available to participants on Saturday night with use of our club kitchen and bathroom facilities. We will be enjoying an evening of festivities following our sailing and taster sessions and all campers are very welcome to join us for the afternoon and evening. Food will be available (pulled pork, coleslaw, salad and dessert) for £5 per person and we will also have local ale from Crouch Vale Brewery for sale. Bring your own drinks if you prefer.

Race day will start with breakfast rolls (small charge) and refreshments before registration begins. The cost of race entry will be £2 per person.

Please take some time to look at the Short Safety Briefing which is attached. This will outline the programme for the day and also the requirements for each crew set down by the race officer, safety officer and Crouch Harbour Authority.

After racing, we have more food to offer (a BBQ with slow cooked shoulder of lamb and accompaniments and a dessert) for £5 per person. Again we will have our local brewery ale for sale, but you are welcome to bring your own drinks.

There will be a presentation of a variety of prizes including mixed, female and Harkers Yard crews and of course the Crouch Shield itself. A handicap system will be applied for different classes of gigs.

I have booked fair weather and sunshine for the weekend and we hope to see as many of you that are able to come along.
