An Evening to Remember at the BOCCRC Barn Dance - June 23

25 Jun 2023 by Sarah Mason

A fantastic night was had at BOCCRC’s Barn Dance. We were joined by 12 rowers from Lower Thames who had rowed round from the Thames during the day along with members, friends, family and supporters of our Club, roughly 85 people all in all. The band, Free Range Legs, didn’t disappoint (despite the fiddle player being absent as he had apparently been arrested earlier in the day and was still having a chat with the boys in blue come 7pm – that’s rock and roll for you!)

Anyway the show must go on and it certainly did. With some fast paced Stripping the Willow and Skinning the Sausage, there were cowboy hats flying all over the place. With banjo, drums, accordion and guitar it was a proper knees up.

The buffet went down a treat, especially with the Lower Thames lot who were starving. Thanks to Harriet, Mandy, Viv, Jeremy and Sarah for cooking up a storm. Thanks also to Simon who took some great pictures of the evening which you’ll find in our club gallery. Thanks to Georgina and Mrs Chris for your help getting the hall look spot on and everyone that stayed behind to pack up and take a bin bag home. A proper team effort – thank you.

The great news is we raised an impressive £670 for club funds and had a good night out to boot. Thank you to everyone that supported our event.
